Here's a tangent...
Alright, so we were shopping at Costco tonight and I came across an electric pencil sharpener I just had to have. (I know, that's got major tangent potential in itself, but let's not go there now.) As I opened the package, I noticed that among the ubiquitous product superiority declarations printed on the packaging was the following: "Sharpens to a Perfect 16 degree Point." One of these days someone's going to have to explain to me the virtue of a "Perfect 16 degree Point" sharpened pencil.
Bonus points for anyone who can shed any light on the subject. BEWARE: If you happen to be knowledgeable on this topic, you may just inadvertently reveal yourself to be a bigger geek than I am. (Extra bonus points to anyone who can identify the movie quote paraphrase in the first paragraph.)

trivia, at 1:41? oi. i'm thinking that the paraphrase lies within the 'someone's gotta explain to me the virtue' line.
truth is, if i had a random question about 16 degree angles, you'd be my go-to for sure. no dice.
Maybe it has something to do with the usefullness of the pencil. Maybe with a perfect 16 degree point you get optimal performance out of your pencil and minimal breakage. Only a guess.
just random thoughts on a tangent.
i never even thought of it, but now i want to know. jen's answer seems true- and sufficiently geeky...just kidding!
um, like where have you been, and stuff?
Sorry - if anyone cares the movie paraphrase is from An American President.
wow, i was way off.
haha! this question has been out there for so long, it has seen three different lisa profile pics
